When Mark and Steve established NorthWall Builders in 1996, Mark had worked in building and construction for more than a decade, most recently as a project engineer and manager for Rudolph Sletten, Inc. In that role, he oversaw commercial construction projects with a specialty in pharmaceutical, electronic and bio-tech manufacturing facilities. He co-founded NorthWall Builders as a way to apply his expertise in managing complex projects to something closer to home: building quality, custom, residential houses.
With more than 25 years in the field, Mark oversees NorthWall’s project managers and is a hands-on leader, working closely with each team and visiting project sites every day. Ultimately, Mark is focused on ensuring that each project is completed to specification, on time, and on budget, while applying creativity and problem-solving skills – bringing together the vision of the architect and homeowner.
Mark graduated from University of Denver in 1982, then returned to school to pursue a degree in construction engineering. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1992 with a BS in construction engineering management.
He lives in Palo Alto and is married with three children. He is a board member of the Palo Alto Housing Corporation and is active in the community as a Little League and AYSO soccer coach. When not building homes, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, biking, and traveling.
Steve, an award-winning builder and developer, co-founded NorthWall Builders with Mark in 1996 and quickly earned the reputation of being a premier builder through his tireless attention to detail, focus on quality, and commitment to ensuring client satisfaction. His management expertise is dedicated to ensuring the back end of the business runs smoothly and efficiently.
A second generation Palo Alto real estate developer, Steve is actively involved in the Palo Alto community where he lives with his wife and three children. He serves on multiple non-profit boards including the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo and the National Brain Tumor Society’s Silicon Valley Brain Tumor Ride.
In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, running, biking, golfing, skiing and occasionally coaching one of his daughter’s soccer teams.
